Noticing Newbies

Hello everyone,

I've had this site on the radar for a while and found myself registering as part of the Nanoprep contest (yes, I'm planning to participate in November)

A bit about myself: I've had a love of reading and writing since I was very young. I was encouraged by an early English (as a second language) teacher in my home country of Finland (although I live in Alaska these days) and since then, I've read a lot about a lot and in the last decade, spent more time focusing on writing as well as reading about writing.

As far as writing goes, I have participated in three NaNoWriMo's over the last five or six years, finishing one. I put in three days of writing for the 3 Day Novel Writing Contest five years ago and finished that. Beyond that, life in general has had a tendency to interfere and only just recently I have made a commitment to write at least 500 words a day so I at least move forward.

Sci-fi is the genre I'm most drawn to. I tend to be a bit geeky and dabble in tech every chance I get (also blog about Android apps when there's time) and I love science in general.

Anyway, my current goal is to put some of my writing on paper, virtual or real, get some feedback and just keep writing...it just wants to come out! :)

Beyond writing, I love to draw as well and a variety of other activities that are creative in nature.

I look forward to learning more about this site and hopefully getting to know some of you as well.
