Do you know that you can click the arrows by each assignment and it will open up to give you more detailed instructions? Just making sure that's not the source of your confusion.
A database is an organized method of storing data. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. Just come up with a way to store all your characters together in a neat and orderly fashion. If, for example, you're storing all your Prep assignments together as Day 1, Day 2, Day 3... it will be harder for you to find your characters during November. Also, it doesn't really allow you to add profiles for more characters if you want them later.
Here's my Character Database as an example, but note that just because I used a Writing.com book for mine, you don't have to. Your profiles just have to be neat and organized and together, with the ability to add more later.
