Writing.com just turned 15! Which means the website has stumbled through puberty and emerged in its angst-filled teenage years. We're joining in on the celebration with this month's prompt:

*GiftB* *GiftR* BIRTHDAYS *GiftR* *GiftB*


I don't need to elaborate, do I? We all know what a birthday is. We experience one every year. Thankfully it's just the anniversary of a birthday, rather than that awkward and messy affair that happened the very first time, the one in the hospital. You wouldn't want to go through that every single year, would you? No! That's not the prompt! Don't write about a 37 year-old man coming out of the womb into a party with nurses and a doctor and best friends in hairnets and face-masks holding a sponge cake with candles. Just don't.

Ahem. The prompt is birthdays (the anniversaries of them). That's it. Simple. Your story could be about a birthday party, a birthday present, a... death day anniversary, perhaps?

This round closes Sept 30th at 11:59pm WDC time. Please be sure to keep to the dark fantasy genre and remember to post a word count here in the forum or with your entry. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.
