Noticing Newbies

I haven't been new for a long time. To this life, that is.
However, I am new to this site and would love to hear from any that are in the 'over 50' age bracket. Anyone 'under 50' who are brave enough to want to meet me and exchange tips and comments, well, you're welcome to jump in too.
I write about common, every-day happenings rather than about what is going on with the rich and famous. Some might find that boring, but it excites me and makes for a lot of back and forth conversations.
I originally come from the mid-west, but consider myself a Left coaster now. Northern Ca. to be exact.
I write fiction mostly. My subjects are varied from how folks lived and settled the west----to what is considered Science fiction.
I'm told that one of the most important things to do is to find readers who will enjoy what you write. Well, I thought that was a given.
However, I understand the premise and realize that if nobody knows me, no one will buy and read. So, here I am.....looking for you.
