Welcome to Writing.com, cethofthemist! *Smile*

pinkbarbie offered up some excellent advice there. The Newbies Academy Group is a great place to be as you're just starting out here. The site can definitely feel a bit overwhelming at first but, believe us - it's not as daunting as it seems. The layout flows extremely well considering the amount of information available.
I'd also like to suggest you take a tour of "Writing.Com 101Open in new Window.. In there, the SMs breaks down many of the basic essentials to the site - including navigating, exposure, creating items, portfolio creation, and interaction within the community. (and much, much more)

This site is incredible - We have readers and writers from all walks of life from all over the world. Kindness and support is in abundance here. You're going to love being a part of this community. Get in and explore.

Again, welcome to Writing.com. Feel free to contact me as well if you need anything.
