Okay, well my own thoughts on the matter... First: I can relate! Second: I totally get it! Third: I have SO been there! Okay so let me elaborate a little. I started writing quite a while ago, myself. I never finished. I lost confidence, conviction, and all desire to write. I recently decided to pick it back up, again. Even when I would try to switch to something else to re-invigorate myself, I would just end up with multiple pieces of unfinished writing. So, I quit. So, my suggestion is as follows: Don't worry about trying to jump right into the idea you've had, if that's the one that scares you. Try shorter pieces. This site offers a couple places you could do that. Try a piece of flash fiction. There's the Daily Flash Fiction contest, which is a really fun way to try to come up with something. That can be found at:
If the limit of 300 words is too intense, there's the Bard's Hall contest, which is a monthly event. It's still intended for flash fiction, but you've got a 1000 word limit there. That one is here:
The cool thing is, once you go to them, the "Favorites" link on this page (at the top right of the page, not your toolbar) will show up with where you've been, and you can easily get back there. Also, considering I know that it can be a little confusing for how to get back to these comments by only looking at the email it sends you, I'm going to copy all this and send it to you directly, as well. It's actually pretty easy. When you click on the email, it'll show you a link for the post you made, and for the replies that were given. It's a small link in comparison to all the strange-looking coded language that looks like it should be the main body of the email. Just click on the link to read the replies and you'll be good to go. Let me know if I can help in any other way. God bless you! ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
