Note that it's already possible to change the order of the entries, even in Blog format, by using the Manage Book page. The date added is a secondary sort that is invoked after sorting by the order numbers assigned on the Manage Book page. It's only "primary" when all those order numbers are the same. Changing the order does not change the date shown on the entry.

Granted, it wouldn't be as convenient to add an entry afterward, because every time you'd have to go in and change the default zero order number to move the new entry where it belonged. But it can be done.
