Hi Swafford, I'm joining in on this a bit late. Might I suggest you research Story Bibles. Bio-Shock likes to use the method to build the worlds in their video games. It is a very effective Method. Though you can plan your entire world before you start writing, just remember that inspiration will change your plans. Though my world is huge and takes up two dimensions, I haven't done a lot of world building per say. I have an idea what I want it to look like scene by scene and I just kind of go with that. If it is a new area, I jot down notes about the area to be used the next time I have a scene in that area.
