It's natural to be nervous. I get most of us here at first too. I've found everyone here to be helpful and supportive and have not run in to any one who is rude or judgemental. After you've been here for a time I'm sure you both be more confident and also gain lots of skill
One way to do that is to read and review other people's work. I've found I've learned a lot by doing reviews. At first I was scared to write reviews, but soon I found there were things I'm good at and focused on those areas in the reviews. Any review it helpful to a writer if it's really what you think - what you liked about a piece, how it made you feel, things that you found confusing, even spelling/grammar/punctuation errors. And the act of writting a review is in fact a way to practice your writing, especially in trying to get your point across in both an informative AND supportive way.
