Noticing Newbies

Hello!
I'm a retired high school teacher, but still teaching at local community college. Married, have 3 grown children all out making their own way in the world (no home bodies or long umbilical cords here).
I have really eclectic reading tastes, but mostly for pure entertainment I enjoy the pulp detective stories from the 1930's, 40's, 50's.
NaNoWriMo beat me this year. Where I live there are only two writing groups: the local groups is about 6 elderly ladies that meet at a local Methodist Nursing home to Not discuss writing. The other is a 90 minute drive and it's membership is mostly self-published authors.

I'm unpublished, but I do have 3 WIP. I really enjoy writing short stories.

I hope to gain more writing skills, and especially gain some discipline and motivation to be a lot more consistent.
