I normally use Matt's method for moving things into Scrivener too, but there is also a "split file" feature. Basically, you go into your long document and put your curser where you want to start the next file. You hit split and Scrivener will create an end point there and put the rest of the document into the next file. Then you go down the long Word file and split your scenes up. I understand this is the faster method, although I haven't used it myself. Normally, my projects all start in Scrivener now. Word is used at the end of my process.
