I appreciate the fast, clear, and evidently well-informed response. I found that I was having a discussion on too many levels. The things that I erroneously felt I needed to say exceeded the bandwidth of my keyboard. As a result, in addition to the points you made, I also learned another lesson. In the future, I might prefer not to use excerpts, but rather tailor-make my examples for this sort of discussion. This would allow me to see the text we're discussing more objectively.
It was my attitude, one more appropriate to a review or collaboration, that erred. You should stand by these comments, they're solid. I look forward to mining your knowledge again.
