Another thing to remember about vocabulary is do they spend a lot of time around adults or other children. My sister at age 3 informed her older brother (age 4) to "Be more observant". Both children spent an equal amount of time with adults, but my sister listened more, my bother was too busy running around and playing.
So are your children observers? Or rough and tumble players? Do they pick vocabulary up from the adults in their life?
