Also a knee injury that would take a player out of the game (and the remained of the season which might be good if you want out of all of that basketball terminology) is an ACL tear (anterior cruciate ligament tear) and here is information on that injury and surgery required. http://www.athleticadvisor.com/Injuries/LE/Knee/acl_repair.htm

Or you could go with a shoulder injury such as a sprain, straine, dislocation or something more serious such as a torn rotator cuff. You can find info here
