It's funny that you have posted this now! I'd lost enthusiasm for the goals I set myself but in the last week or so I have started thinking about them again and even ordered a copy of a magazine I plan to submit work to next -- I need to research it a bit. I have also been looking at offsite contests but feel put-off by exorbitant entry fees. Plus, I have yet to come across a contest I feel confident I could win or at least place in and I don't see the point in entering unless I think I can win. It's not that I feel my poetry is bad, it's just a lot more accessible and a lot less pretentious than the poems that tend to win (big national contests, at least!) I'll continue to keep an eye out for suitable contests, but I'll be putting more effort into getting my poetry into magazines. I've had a Haiku published this year and another poem was accepted for publication last year but still hasn't appeared, unless I missed it (getting kind of worried about that one!) But I want to build on that and get more of my poetry out there.
