Noticing Newbies

Hello!

Actually, my name is Barbara Beier, but I like that pen name. I've been blogging for a few years as well as trying to write professionally in a stop-and-go way while working as a medical transcriptionist full-time. It's difficult to balance a full-time job and writing - one or the other has to give.

Only this spring have I really settled down to writing. Currently I'm trying to get a bit of income going with content writing while exploring other avenues that seem interesting as a career. These include a short fiction and general-interest science writing.

I'm editing down to size something that was intended to be a short story but somehow expanded much more than necessary. As well, while there have been recent schedule interruptions at the blog, I'm now back to doing my regular Sunday Morning Volcano feature and next Monday will start up again with the weekly Civil War 150th Anniversary timeline, which people there seem to like.

Wow! There's a lot to Writing.com. Am still orienting myself. Thanks for having a newbie forum for introductions.
