A warm welcome to our newbies; come meet new and not-so-new members of Writing.Com! |
Hi Mr. Editor and the Writing.com family. I am a newbie in the writing.com circles. I would love to connect with authors and meet new writers. There is so much I want to achieve as a writer. Currently, I am working on my first novel. Concurrently, I have embarked on writing short stories for young children. In addition to that, I am a gifted poet. It was not a bundle of roses when I joined this community of writers. Doubts sprang in my head like seeds in a garden. Is this the right site for me? Can I benefit from it? What exposure is there to promote my niche as a writer? Slumping in my chair, I was almost convinced this cite was for teenagers. I showed disinterest and almost eliminated my account. There were many speed bumps and obstacles that blurred my vision. I begun a blog on word.press.com. Unfortunately, being an experienced writer that didn't turn out too well. It lead me to take courses in blogging and freelance writing. Reality drove me to the confines of humility. It doesn't matter how gifted or talented an individual is, content is good, but according to experts it is WHO YOU KNOW! During my absence from writing.com, I opened accounts with facebook, twitter and Goodreads. I also started a professional network. There is so much I didn't know, that I discovered in my training and learning from professionals. Would you believe I also endorsed in Economics and panel discussions? I didn't know I had a knack for this till I became actively involve in the forums. I crafted myself and did research. It occurred to me overnight, that I have a passion for current issues that affect us as a people. I participated in debates like: DO ROBOTS REPLACE HUMANS? THE ECONOMIC CASE FOR MINIMUM WAGE etc. There are subjects that peaked my interest like: GAYS AND LESBIANS IN SOCIETY AND EQUAL RIGHTS FOR BLACKS. It would be awesome to develop my network and start a very successful blog with thousands of subscribers. |
