Why should stuents read consistently?
I recently participated in a forum. The topic was: What are the best ways to improve your writing style? I am a teacher by profession, and I am deeply saddened to say, our educational system is in trouble. During the forum we tackled the effective ways to improve writing and grammar. Teachers from all walks on life shares views, concepts and strategies to improve writing. It was a very philosophical debate, but the art of effective writing is very simple. Good readers become good writers. Students who read consistently naturally learn the art of effective writing. In the schools today, children are not given the foundation for the elements of writing. The foundation for children to gain confidence in writing is daily journals, and freewriting activities. In freewriting children release their thoughts and feelings on paper. Daily journals are record keeping of the childs'
activities inside and out of school. These are key fundamentals to a child's development and ability as a writer. I strongly endorse this cause because literacy is very important to society.
