Noticing Newbies

I apologize if this information is already contained somewhere on here, but I have a quick question (or two...).

1. I am not entirely sure how I'd designate my writing, so I'm not entirely sure what I should search for regarding these groups.

2. Does one "join" groups? If so, would you or anyone mind explaining how?

I've posted a few more writings already, so maybe there's a chance someone will have an objective idea of where I should turn, if it behoove them. I am interested in receiving critiques of my writing, but I am also more than willing to contribute in return.
