This is my understanding of it.

When you post in your portfolio here, as long as you keep the setting to private, then your work would still be publisher friendly. I think it's when the work is available for public consumption that they (the publishers) get a little bit antsy.

As far as the copyright...if you look at the bottom of each piece you post here, you'll see the copyright info.

I am not 100% sure of all of this because I am new here as well.
