A warm welcome to our newbies; come meet new and not-so-new members of Writing.Com! |
Hi Lulu, I'm new here too and have little experience with this particular venue but have posted pieces to my own websites before. I do believe that once you post something online you can no longer sell "first publishing" rights because you are publishing them yourself. I do know that when you publish something on this site you have "proof" by the datestamp on the webpage of first copyright should someone plagiarize. I also have all of my works saved to dated documents, I'm sure most people do. Personally, I'm not planning on posting complete long works on here, but more jaunts, essays, perhaps a poem or two, or pieces of something that I'm having trouble with. I'm not sure about those more comfortable with this website, but I wouldn't post anything on here that I was planning on shopping out for any other venue. I'm more looking for people to help develop whatever skills I have left after a couple years of not bothering to write due to work and personal obligations, and to perhaps sharpen my editing skills by editing other works. I'm optimistic, but again, very new. :) Congrats on your successes. I hope to get there someday, right now I'm just working on dropping my timidness and trying to get back into writing regularly. I'm still in that period of life with the encumbrances of very young children(2.5 years and 3 months) and very little time to myself. Best wishes and welcome from another newbie! |
