Though I appreciate the suggestion, this isn't something we'd offer.

We'd actually rather people use and spend their GPs in the community to award and recognize other members and works... support groups and their activity ... help members who need help with paid memberships, etc. Providing an incentive to hang onto GPs rather than spend and share them would be against most of our goals. ---> They are, after all, called "Gift" points. *Bigsmile*

Further to that: "Throughout the entire industry, however, the national average bank interest rate for savings accounts is only 0.17%" -- That's from an article on the saving rates that banks currently offer. The average is well less than 2% and they're in the savings business. Some pay a little more to lure customers; banks pay interest to incentivize people to keep money with them, so that they can loan that money out at a much higher interest rate. Federal law requires they have a certain amount of cash assets for every X amount of money they loan out.
