A warm welcome to our newbies; come meet new and not-so-new members of Writing.Com! |
After many years as an on line member of many different writing communities I stumbled upon this one. As I've done in the past this site too I shall spend some time with. In hopes of becoming a productive as well as a learning member. My passion is writing, or as those familiar with me call it, an obsession. In introduction to myself, I am Eric L Marsh, a twice published author, and a wearer of many hats of which I'll list the ones I am known by. First and foremost I am a retired Army Master sergeant with over twenty four years of honorable service as a combat engineer in the active and reserve components. I mention it in order to explain what being a soldier has given myself and millions of other members of the uniformed service. The ability to meet people from all walks of life and cultures; broad world wide travel affording opportunities to become upfront and personal with those that hated us, and those that loved and appreciated all we stood for. Mostly though I give thanks to Uncle Sam because of the stories I have been exposed to and written about. Another hat I proudly wear is that of an entertainer In many aspects, I am a poet, and a thespian, a story teller, a writer of novels, novella's, short stories, essay's, fiction and non fiction, and a stand-up comic. I attend as an audience member and participant in a minimum of three open mics monthly, as well as hosting a spoken word venue once a month and being featured upon occasion. I am an old man in chronological years, no secret, in FEB 2004 I will begin my seventy fifth year of life. In my mind set I reside happily as a forty year old and look forward to a few more years wearing all the hats except for that of a proud soldier; sadly I can't, but would in a heartbeat given the chance. I am a longtime resident of the winter wonderland state of New Hampshire, I live and write in myself built writers retreat with my canine and feline companions. I look forward to reading the works of members of this group and sharing mine as well. |
