Depending on your style of writing, there are groups within the site that pursue specific genres and styles.

Check out "Activities @ Writing.Com"  and "Writing Contests @ Writing.Com"  to find some writing activities to join or contest to enter. As a highschool English teacher, your technical knowledge of English is going to be much higher than that of the average Writing.Com citizen. But, you will find that everybody here has a very unique and valid point of view and opinion on writing. That is what makes this place great.

Just upfront, there are few bad apples that might send you crummy reviews that are not friendly, encouraging or even valid. Just walk it off. They will burn out quickly. They don't find a reason to stay around.

If you see an activity or contest or group that interests you, but you don't know how to go about it, email the owner. They will walk you through everything.
