Noticing Newbies

Hey all,

New to writing.com and figured I'd pop in and say, "Hello." I was digging around for new writing venues and came across this site via Writer's Digest's top 101 writing websites.

I've been a casual writer of sorts since a very young age, so for nearly 30 years. I've never taken the craft very seriously, but recently I've decided I want to try and focus on it and see where it leads me. I used to write some poetry many years back and I'm not much of a short story writer, but I have found most of my interest lying in the sci-fi/fantasy and horror novel realms. I've never finished a novel and have three incomplete manuscripts under my belt. I seem to be really proficient at writing the first 4-5 chapters of a novel before being distracted by another story idea, hobby, or life in general.

I know it's cliche to choose the New Year to focus more diligently on a new (or not-so-new) endeavor, but it's better now than never.

I look forward to reading the stories here and hope to find some of the inspiration and discipline needed to make it to the manuscript finish line.
