Setting weekly goals has been helpful, even if I don't take time to post them. By looking at them on Friday instead of Sunday, I can see my progress. That allows me to see revise or refocus on what I need to push. Lack of organization hampers my writing. Clearing up the desk, sorting research, discarding the junk, etc., helps focus. I have to deal with work pressures, seasonal stress, family oblihgations; that's just life. I'm never going to be the kind of writer who gets up in the morning, lets the servants take care of the house and the aging father while I just sit at my computer with my coffee and write uninterrupted all day. I have to get focused and organized and just make the best of it if I'm going to accomplish what I feel is worthwhile. Looking at baby goals instead of the big goals will get me there an inch at a time. This week I've just managed to get by and feel exhausted. But I don't feel like a failure; I've gotten most of my goals and have two days left.
