What you are really saying is those who "publish" the most books get to set the rules.
I find when reading a prolific author the latter books are not as concise or the attention to detail isn't as good as the ones near the beginning.
There is the learning CURVE; they start- learn- get good and so popular they spit books out every year and lose focus due to volume. Later the books are just so so. A CURVE.
What does that say to a writer? When you are really popular you don't have to follow the rules, people buy your books on your name.
I wish it weren't so but that's life.
