A month-long novel-planning challenge with prizes galore. |
This is the first novel I've used it for so I am still getting used to it but so far I am amazed at the output that comes out. It is a very complex program but I like that because that means it's thorough in exploring the themes of the story and I can see how it would help make a story tighter. There's a section in there called 'Storyforming' which is like a multiple choice questionnaire about your story, and the options you select ends up forming an outline of the plot. For the current story I am working on, I was amazed at how accurate it was at predicting my plot outline. The 'StoryIllustrating' section has questions based on your answers from the 'Storyforming' section and these are questions with big blank boxes underneath where you embellish a bit more on that particular point in the story. Dramatica Pro already has the structure set out (Act 1,2,3, Scene 1,2,3 etc) and what you fill out here helps to flesh out the story outline a little more. So far, the only section I've run a complete document on is the four throughlines themes - what Dramatica Pro does is spits out the report on what it thinks are the themes of the story. What I've done with this report is fill in my interpretation of what I think it is saying. This is because I'm still getting used to the definitions. The amount of definitions you have to learn for the program is its weakness, especially if you don't have much time. I think its one of the more expensive writing softwares out there. The interface is a bit archaic as well, but I can live with it. I'm happy to send a report of the 'four throughlines' on the themes of my story to anyone who wants to see what the Dramatica Pro report looks like. Email me if you are interested. Serey |
