I suppose it doesn't have to be. The point of making it one sentence is to break it down to the most minimalist point of the plot. This is focus to figure out your major conflict within the book. If this is the part that gets too complicated and needs a paragraph or a page, you may not truly know what your book is about and you need to dig deeper. Does that help?
