A month-long novel-planning challenge with prizes galore. |
I have a pretty good idea where the story is going, thankfully. The problem I really seem to be having is that my story is a period romance with magic realism thrown in, and I desperately want to avoid "romance novel" titles. You know...the ones that you just have to make fun of because they're just so melodramatic and, well, silly that you know the novel is basically going to be a soap opera in printed ink. Seriously, Magical Period Romance NaNo 2013 seems to be the go-to working title and that's all sorts of boring. But "Midnight on the Moors" is a little...trite, I feel. And the fact that the romance is a story-within-a-story makes me wonder if I need to reference the "shell" story more and do something like "This Dead Man's Heart"...although the main character is only presumably dead, as he has had his heart removed by a magical Collector who failed to remove the Curse from the woman he loved because it wasn't a Curse technically... And I'm rambling. I suppose he is dead inside, even if he still lives...so I suppose "This Dead Man's Heart" works fine. Actually, I kinda like it. Thanks, guys! (This is why I need people.) -Quaddy ![]() ![]()
