Jeff, thanks for your detailed reply. The fact that the suggestion has been made before, probably over and over again for many years, only proves that this feature is way overdue.
I agree of course that reviews are much more meaningful than ratings, and that using a template is great if you're regularly writing reviews and want to make it easier on yourself, but that doesn't change the point I'm making. Readers are much more likely to give a rating than a review, and while I'd hate for the StoryMaster's head to explode, I really think it would make a world of a difference.
I don't think there's any need to create categories that will work equally well for poetry and for pictures. Let each type of item have its own set. If it's too daunting to come up with something, just implement the underlying software and let the authors create their own without providing default categories. Or start this for only some specific types of writing and flesh it out for others later when you see how everyone loves it.
