A place to get together and chat about mental illness or about whatever is on your mind. |
I am happy as a clam when I found WDC. For a long time, I had been searching and making phone calls, but all anyone wanted to do was enroll me in their college. I've already been there, done that. I used to be a published writer for two newspapers, and the money was great. I was being paid for doing what I wanted. I even recieved fan mail and flowers. I moved back down from NC to Charleston, SC and have to start over. I found out I was bioplar and always knew about the ADHD. It took me 40 years for a diagnosis. Until I found the right combiantion of meds, I couldn't write, or hardly talk. That is why I am here, at WDC. I want to learn. I write about my numerous animal adventures and maybe 10 percent prompts in contests. I want to learn how to write poerty and maybe even childrens' books. All kids like animals I lived on a farm for about 35 years or more. That is a rich sourse of stories, too. Now, I live with my husband, Cliff, in the city. We have a big back yard, so we have chickens in the yard, three happy bunnies in the fenced garden. They love to dig holes, groom each other, and play tag. How many people keep these funny and smart animals locked in cages alone? We used to eat them and our goats on the farm. I think about that now and I am horrified! I also have a savage African Grey that keeps my hands sore and bloody. I don't know why I keep the little asshole! He bit me throught the wires where I thought was a safe distance, bub he got me, anyway. I shouted, "Owww!" He looked me in the eye and said, "You little f_ _ Ker!" He said, "What the F...." when my mother was over. She just smiled. Lately, we have been more careful, and most of his xxx rated words will be forgotten. Now he asks, "Do you like Eric Clapton?" We are strick vegetarians after reading some graphic and scary books about Factory Farming. We even watched some terribly disturbing documentaries, one by Paul McCartney. Did you know that chickens are fed a small amount of arsenic daily to make them grow faster? Also, ground meat is simply the sraps of meat on the floor. I did't mean to run on so, but I am very active in at least a dozen animal and enviornmental groups and speak out against what is really going on. Unfortunately, too many people tell me, "So what." Check out my port. I also wrote a good one called, "Lions, Tigers, and Bears." Good to be here and I will keep my entries as short as possible. I am glad we are all together again. We should all be together. Love, Lesley |
