Yeah, I'm more or less with Matt on this one ... I had actually considered this in the past but I have some issues with people using up usernames like this. I'd considered it as a paid member benefit, but extra usernames (which means extra email addresses, etc etc) have a lot of caveats and things... usernames are more "powerful" than item ids/item aliases.
Usernames differ from Item Aliases in that no one is required to have an item alias... everyone gets an item ID. With usernames, everyone has to have one. And at some point, there is a huge diminishing return for everyone coming to the site "later".
