Ian, Mike, and Andrew were playing basketball on Ian’s driveway. “You know we should really do something different,” Ian said. “Like what?” Mike asked. “I don’t know maybe we could climb a mountain or something,” Ian replied. “That sounds like a good idea,” Mike said. “There’s a mountain that’s half an hour from my house,” Ian said. “Okay, let’s go to that one,” Mike said. They all ran into the house. “What’s going on?” Ian’s father asked. “We want to climb the mountain,” Ian said. “Okay, I’ll drive you there,” Kenny (Ian’s father) said. They all got into Kenny’s car and drove half an hour to the mountain. When they got there half an hour later they all got out of the car and looked at the mountain. “It looks pretty high,” Andrew said. “It’s really not,” Ian said. “You’ve climbed it before?” Mike asked. “Yes,” Ian replied. “How long will it take to climb?” Mike asked. “Only about two hours,” Ian replied. “Are you sure?” Mike asked. “Yeah, I’m sure,” Ian replied. “You had better not be lying to me,” Mike said. “I’m not lying,” Ian said. “Okay, I trust you,” Mike said as they started to climb the mountain. An hour later they are halfway up the mountain. “You said it only takes tow hours it feels like we’ve been climbing for three,” Andrew said. “Well, it’s eleven and we started at ten, so it has only been an hour,” Kenny said. Another hour later they are at the top of the mountain and they rested and had some lunch. “It’s beautiful up here,” Kenny said. “We should climb this mountain every day,” Mike laughed. “Right,” Andrew said. The four boys sat and ate their lunch and looked at the beautiful view from the top of the mountain. |
