I was sitting here, feeling sorry for myself because I've come down with a bad cold and frankly I feel like sleeping and zoning out, not putting in serious mental effort on my novel. Then I came in here and read your post and I'm now thinking 'Wow, what the heck am I complaining about? She's fractured her spine and is still trying to do NaNo!'
Give yourself some leniency, PriyaElena - EricaRose - any that you do is great. Maybe set yourself a more realistic goal so you don't feel too pressured - under the circumstances, maybe you aim for a lower number of words for the month, or maybe you can consider this an additional month of prep and put some extra thought in to your characters and settings and plot, and postpone NaNo for a month and do it in December.
Now I'm going to stop feeling sorry for myself with my pathetic cold and go and write some words. And while I do, I will be thinking of you, PriyaElena - EricaRose and wishing for the speediest recovery possible. Best of luck for a full and fast recovery.
