So on the 31st I ended up in the hospital after fracturing my spine in two places from a horseback riding accident, and even then I just kept thinking about how I was going to manage NaNoWriMo when I couldn't really sit up to write. When I was working on my commitment letter and procrastination list, I wasn't expecting this to be one of my setbacks.
I can write/type a little, but it doesn't take very long for my body to start complaining, or for me to fall asleep from medications. I should be making the most of the little bit of time I do have, or maybe making use of a speech-to-text program, but honestly I'm feeling a bit defeated before I even had the chance to start.
The timing is just awful. I don't really know what I expect to get by sharing this, other than perhaps some of the famous NaNo Prep cheerleading that has always been so helpful every year. I could use it.

"Immortal amaranth, a flower which once
In paradise, fast by the tree of life,
Began to bloom; but soon for man's offence
To heaven removed, where first it grew, there grows,
And flowers aloft, shading the fount of life"
- Milton, Paradise Lost
