If you're referring to the daily update email, I apologize if that came across as a nudge to hurry. It was not intended that way. Several participants have posted that they are finished, but they have some assignments missing. I don't want to see them lose out on the prize because they forgot to post a day that they actually completed (or forgot to complete a day that they skipped.)

If you're referring to the participants in general who finished early, I find that everyone uses the Prep in the way that best serves their personal needs. I do agree that the point is to get into the habit of writing every day. Some of the participants who finished early are still doing that - working on further outline revisions, world building, etc. Some are not participating in NaNo this year. And some, like you point out, finished early and are taking a break, and they may regret falling into bad habits again. The Prep is a tool, and like any tool, it works best when used properly and for its intended purposes.
