I don't think so. I'm not making up my own world either. Mine takes place in a few different countries around the world, mostly those in the Commonwealth, so I'm making notes on the political/religious aspects of the Commonwealth as broad generalisations. Then I'll make some specific notes on culture of different countries that I know already play a significant part, like England, Scotland and New Zealand.
Anyway, why reinvent the wheel for the sake of it?
