I like how you put that. It might just be a comfort zone thing. In the rest of life people are taught, direct or not, that privacy is the utmost important thing. When in a community that is learning and growing like this one is from one another privacy isn't the top of the heap. Helping is. Lending assistance and asking for feedback are the gold standard in this kind of group.
