A month-long novel-planning challenge with prizes galore. |
Dutchessbar, if you don't mind me asking what is your novel about? Not everyone feels this way, but I am not worried about anyone stealing my idea. As they say, nothing new under the sun, but I still like to think I have a fresh take on things. That said, I think it's about the writing. Give me an idea and give someone else the same idea, and I don't think you will have the same story. Mine is an older SF/fantasy. Kaylee, a young girl on the cusp of womanhood, is rescued from the cruel streets of Hong Hou. Ed, a handsome, off-world miner takes her home, where she meets the two miners, and his son, Fairfax, whom Ed would like Kaylee to some day marry. Fairfax is far from kind, and Kaylee has a made crush on Edward. Another of the miners wants and resents that lusts for Kaylee. She is their house sitter. She spends months alone every year. Kaylee spends huge amounts of time exploring the dunes and flora fauna that live there. She becomes fascinated with the sand cats, who the miners hate because they break in the house, steal, and break things. There aren't the dumb animals the miners make them out to be. Conflict rises and Kaylee must either help the miners defend their home and live confronts of the compound they call home. Or she could she live in freedom among the mystical sand cats. To Dream, perchance to write... "Invalid Item" ![]() They cling to the bones, linger in the heart and sing to you when you're asleep.
