This is one of my favorite horror movies, it came out in the early 60ies and I remember watching it as a child. I LOVE it! A few years ago, I bought the DVD and the book by Shirley Jackson ( which is much scarier than the movie) and I watch the movie from time to time. I have read the book about 3 times now. I am NOT a fan of the remake! The ORIGINAL is the best as far as I am concerned!
I highly recommend it, the house is THE best, it is one freaky looking house, completely Gothic!
