December 2011 Detailed Writing Prompt Challenge Details
The Situation:
At a Chinese restaurant, your point of view character opens his fortune cookie and reads the following message: "Your life is in danger from someone in this room. Say nothing to anyone. Repeat: say nothing. But also, someone in this room could save you."...looking around the restaurant to see who could be responsible for this cryptic message you are confronted by a motley crew of characters worthy of a crime noir radio serial.

Choose your POV character from one of the following and describe their emotional reaction to such news based on their background.

1. The Evil Scientist
Crime lords may be known for having plans to terrorize entire cities, but to do this they need their evil scientists.
There is a veritable cornucopia of projects for the right scientist. The only way to appeal to these cold and calculating gentlemen is if you're willing to make sure the experiment never takes place in the first place. Chinese banquets don't come cheap. Let's say a few million dollars?
Tips: Scientists and other brainy types are not usually portrayed as athletic. They are, however, often displayed with crazed glasses, Einstein like hair, lab coats and rubber gloves. They may even have hunched shoulders and no neck.

2. Mr Big
You don't cross The Mr. Bigs of this world. Especially early nineties pop rock bands. You could steal 5 million bucks or 5 nickels from this character. The money's not important, but the disrespect is. And believe me, you'll feel his pain.
Mr Big is powerful. In a physical sense and with the muscle from his organization. It's his influence that drains into every nook of a big city, corrupting it like an oil spill on an alaskan beach. He eats for free and the hokkien noodles are on him.

Tips: Mr Big is intimidating. His shoulders are wide and he has a heavy torso. Big hands. Thick waist. Short legs. Small head. That kind of thing. Killers are such natty dressers, he'll appear at a carwash beating with a neat tie clip and a flower in his pocket. Heavy folds and sharp creases in a dressy suit showcase a man who folds heavies and creases...sharp um objects.

3. The Femme Fatale

Eyes that deceive. Couldn't you look into her eyes forever. Beautiful, smoldering eyes. Eyes that have seen too much. Too much to handle. Eyes that will well up at just the right moment, letting a man who should know better let down his guard and end up paying for her restaurant bill. All for a chance to pay for her hotel bill too. Pupils that hide halfway under her eyelids, eyelashes that sweep away from the eyes and deep shadows cast under her eyelids; bad girls wear thick eyeliner on their lower eyelids too.
