I have to admit that I stumbled upon Steampunk quite by accident. I started writing in the Fantasy genre because I just didn't want to base my story in the 'real' world. I LOVE stories based in the Wild West, so it was natural for me to try to push my own story in that direction, rather than the more traditional medieval. On top of that, I spent many years studying science, so to delve into a world of unexplained magic just seemed a bit too alien to me. All of a sudden, I had a story with cowboy hats and a bad guy who could do magic because of a device he'd created... How much further I delve into Steampunk will depend on my imagination, I guess...
