Indeed, we have come to the time for true confessions. I must confess to being a dreamer, and a motivator, and in fact, a reader of Steampunk, but not a writer of the same, or at least, not yet. I am fascinated with the subgenre and subculture in general. First and foremost I love a good story and Steampunk plants the seeds for a really good story. It is truly as versatile as all of fiction rolled together and lends itself well to most any genre you may wish to blend with whether it be a mystery, romance, fantasy, or gothic horror. I think it takes a higher caliber of creativity than another genre, in that there are certain conventions that must be observed. The elements as outlined in some of the references cited on our home page for example, are required. Not all of them, to be sure, but elements must be included for it to truly be Steampunk. I enjoy the youth and energy of the following. There is a synergy and almost a brotherhood/sisterhood among the followers. Mostly I enjoy the stories; I think I may have already mentioned that. I'm no expert, and cannot trace things back to their beginnings, but I know a good story when i read it, and I know what I enjoy. And I enjoy Steampunk. It inspires me, and hopefully, I will soon join the ranks of those who have written Steampunk.
