The play did not go all that well for us, but it was not their fault. It was ours. We were all a bunch of young kids at the time and did not market the play well. Both actors came back afterward and hosted a speaking engagement to help us recoup the money we lost. I was only 17 at the time, it was a great learning experience for me. The play convinced me to give up on engineering as a major to switch to filmmaking and the arts. I never looked back.
I can't say that I've read any of Shatner's work. I have read most of the Original Trek novels and even have met a few of the authors that wrote them. I agree that there is a market for star trek stories, but I haven't thought of one yet. Then again, I'm only just starting to write after a very long hiatus.
