Since the author has chosen the Bernese period for their story, maybe it would be a good idea to keep the names in English. That way one does not have to get into the trouble of wondering whether the Bernese patriciate's representative used some dialect of German or French. Of course the Bernese were influenced by the French, so one could say that the name remained the same during this period.
However it is a military period for the castle, where the former division between rooms for the Savoiards and the rest of the castle was abolished to suit the defensive needs.
Allright, in this period the castle had a captain, but did the captain require particularly good quality mattresses?
I've never seen a photo of the camera domini of the castle, and even if I had, I imagine the bed there would be as in the other bedrooms of a later period (and even that extremely uncomfortable).

I admire the author for choosing this period, because it is the one for which most people have the least data. For example during the Bernese period there were earthquakes that caused serious damage to the castle. However since this period lasted for over 200 years, the earthquakes could have been later.
Also, when the Bernese conquered (I can't remember the exact year, somewhere around 1534) the castle, it was supposed to be defensively sound, but otherwise in a rather bad condition. So would there be good quality mattresses to be found there?
Anyway, these are just personal opinions and questions. The scenery the author has chosen is indeed one of the best in the world and I can't wait to read their story!
