A monthly poetry contest with prompts. |
I was looking at the poem I wrote after I heard that Lawrence, who I knew as Kansaspoet, had past away. I had decided to use all the prompts from this contest in the poem and it is stored in my On Butterfly Wings journal. I just thought I would put it here as I remember Lawrence, someone who helped me spread my wings. When The Water Was Still When the water was still, accept for our tears, upon silent reflection we remembered the years, when you were a light down the center aisle, raising our spirits and making us smile. You saw the harmless creature who had lost all hope, hiding behind twisted friendships and fiery rage. You extinguished the flames with gentle calm and thoughtful words placed across the page. No one seemed to mind that you never needed, to paint an audience of faces, and when they finally came for advice, you gave it freely without any negative traces. A mere word thesis can hardly describe, the feelings that our hearts and minds now spill, with the news that our attic skylight has gone, and your inspirational words are now still. miss_devine ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
