Please allow that as soon as I received news of Mr Moffett's passing, I wondered at once if he was giving St. Peter a hard time as he probably would have hated waiting at the Pearly Gates.
Our local florist shop, Kurtz is quite visible on State Street in downtown Hamburg, due a broad green awning.
As green was Mr. Moffett's favorite color and he grew four pine trees for 20 some years, I took it upon myself to insist on pine & cedar for the spray, I carried to the cemetery on Nov 29. I also went with carnations, in the colors of red, white and green. The florist ladies added lilies, cedar and mums as white as snow. Oh, my husband loved snow. And yes, we always introduced each other as husband or wife as the years became decades.
When his sisters praised the four foot wide bouquet, I replied on that awful day, we were burying another Santa.
Suffice, I was unable to open ADC's annual Christmas contest in Dec of 2010.
