Noticing Newbies

So that was a bit short, so I'll also add that I am 19, I'm an EMT but I currently work at a grocery store, and I'm about to start another semester at the local community college in a couple of weeks. If I could live anywhere in the US I would live in Colorado, where I used to live, and the place I want to visit most is Australia. Dogs and chickens are my favorite domestic animals, bats, sea turtles and elephants are my favorite wild animals. I grew up on a ranch and I think it would be a lot of fun to be a llama trainer. Actually I know it would be, because I've trained a few llamas. And.....I was wondering - If I post a story or poem here, do I retain the copyright? I had a hard time understanding the user agreement. I know that I have to have the copyright in order to post, and I'm assuming I keep it, but I just wanted to make sure.
