Re: Some New Rules for A Self Proclaimed Style

Again with WOW!!! ON Topic for writing. Not just reviewing, hon.

RE: substituting a for the --- absolutely agree and use this rule for everything I write. Also based on King's ON WRITING. Where Stephen actually shows his first typed drafts in high school and how his editor blacked out all his "thes." Which should become a rule to write by.

Again ---e.g. using "Ginger's walleyed stare" instead of "The wall-eyed look from Del Morrow's face."

---- Both ID character (Ginger) instead of repetitious she or her. Then Ginger --- as character name sticks for readers.

Next: plurals! Instead of writing: the reader above ---- perhaps try plurals. However, never forget your read back on your re-re-re edits. This is hint on style sound check and style is sound.

Think fast talking as in Philly speak or NY ... then recall jokes ... which cut down on overwordy --- Like: "Guy goes into a bar ...

Then apply a thought rule --- not every noun needs an article.

Posting now, but more to say RE: Self Proclaimed Stylist's additions.

Which is not only good, it is GRRRRRREEEEEEEEAAAAAATTT!!! I simply adore Dave's list of what to do & what to avoid. One might safely assume these additions to Dave's article/ non-fiction basis comes from working with and thru what works via experience.

TEFF here paying attention. Uh-oh -- cut post title since it became too long. Sorry.
